Challenging yourself with “One Something”

Today is our last Thursday Throwdown of 2015!  Tricia and I plan to take a bit of a break from our regular schedule over the next couple weeks to focus on family and the festivities of the season.  We hope you will do the same – with one condition.

With the approaching New Year, the inevitable, oft dreaded, Resolutions are made. We challenge you to steer clear of the usual and customary –

  • lose weight
  • quit smoking
  • get organize
  • take more time for family

Instead, our Throwdown for you is to pick one something that will push you out of your Comfort Zone.  One something that will move you closer to one of your big life goals.  This isn’t as easy as it may sound.  But it is important to find that one something that will break up your routine and reshape your focus.

So, what’s it going to be?

Tricia’s post on Tuesday made it clear to me what to pick as my 2016 Throwdown Challenge – entering a contest.  In all the years I’ve been writing, I’ve never entered a contest.  It’s time.  It’s time to put my work out there, and find out how my work stacks up against that of my peers.

To be honest, I am having anxiety just thinking about it.  I’ll take that as an indicator that I’ve picked something that will edge me closer to a full blown Comfort Zone Bust!

Now that I’ve put out the Throwdown Challenge for 2016 – I’m looking forward to hearing from you how you plan to challenge yourself in the New Year!  What’s your “one something” for 2016?
