Throw-Down Thursday!

Throw-Down Thursday!

So we’re doing something new this week. We’re determined to get fit and trim before the holidays. Yes folks, I said the holidays. They are right around the corner, and what happens during the season? Food, lots and lots of food! So we thought it would be a great idea to lose any extra baggage before the Holidays and the traditional five pound weight gain this year. So every week we’re going to be checking in here for what we’re calling the Thursday Throw-Down we’re challenging ourselves and anyone who cares to join us to meet their goals before Turkey-day arrives. And just so you know I’ve busted out my trusty little calendar and that’s 13 weeks or 91 days from now. Whichever way works best for you.

Tricia: So I’m just going to put it out there. My goal is to lose 20 pds. before my son’s wedding in October and another 5 or 10 before D-day, or in this case T-day. How about you Lori?

Hmmm, thinking of a challenge for myself. How about wrestling? 😉 CHEEKY GRIN!

So what’s my throw-down challenge? My damn scales seem to never change when I exercise (I tell myself it’s all that muscle I’m building up, haha!), so here’s my challenge – do some daily ab work and my ‘Don’t break the chain’ writing challenge.

If y’all don’t know about it, Jerry Seinfeld came up with this idea for consistent writing every single day, ‘Don’t break the chain’. Wordcounts are great and all but this writer wants to make a daily writing habit and keep it. So my minimum word count every day is 100 words. I have put a small calendar in a prominent place, and every day after writing my 100 words, I proudly slap a big blue magic marker X on the calendar, crossing off days of progress. Mmm, I could be sick in the head but that sort of thing makes me SO happy.

Easy to add another item to that calendar: ab crunches (nice slow ones, of various types) for either 4, 5 or 6 minutes a day (cos I like to vary).

So glad you could join us! That’s an awesome challenge. Since I’m already writing everyday, I think It would be great if Lori met your writing challenge. What do you say Lori ?
I am going to match your ab challenge! Great motivation Nikki, thanks.

I’m challenging myself to get outside and do an activity every weekend – whether it’s a bicycle ride or a hike. I live in a beautiful area of northern California and I don’t spend time outside often enough (one of the many casualties of being an author.) So here it is Saturday, and my husband has readied the bicycles for our ride. It’s 100 degrees outside today. Of course, we should have gone before the heat of the day. Now we’re questioning if we should go for it, or wait until dusk and some more even temperatures. Oy ve. Always something.

I’ve found weekly challenges are key to keeping me focused, no matter what the goal is. Awesome for you to be outside and active every weekend! Love love love bike rides! Bring lots of water and ride on!

Oh I’m bringing it Chicky! Just you wait and see. I want to see you run that marathon. Plus, I want to see looking fabulous doing the Mother/son dance at the wedding. What do you think about posting our progress every Thursday to keep it honest?

Yes! Let’s check in every Thursday and also challenge each other to do one more something each week to get us closer to our goals! It’s a plan!

Ladies, I’m just STOKED for you with your throw-downs (had to look that up BTW, thought it might be something to do with wrestling…) Cheering you on, and not exactly from the sidelines as you’ll see below.
Keep up the GREAT work! Boy, how hot will Tricia, Mother Of The Groom, be come October? We’ll want photos I hope you know.

I am so up for this. One of my comfort zone bust challenges is to run (not walk) a marathon. I did my last marathon 10 years and 30 pounds ago. And, I walked most of it. This is a full on challenge for me. Bring it on!
